Play Therapy is based on the notion that play is a child's natural mode of self-expression. The playroom becomes synonymous for the child's language and the toys become the child's words. Sometimes children find it difficult to talk about feelings and can use play to communicate their thoughts and feelings. Everyday language, which is the language of thinking, is not the natural language of feeling for children. Their natural language of feeling is that of image and metaphor. The purpose of Play Therapy is then to help children understand themselves and in the process give them
strategies to cope with difficulties they face in life, which they themselves cannot change. The goal is also to help parents understand their children better and learn the "why" behind their behavior, as well as  help them to reconnect with their children in a new way.
